Here's the plea I've been emailing out. It's getting down to the wire for finalist selection. Thanks to each and every person who's taken the time to click their support and move me from 19th to 13th of the women; I truly want to crack the top 10 to show I can generate audience interest.
---------------
I applied to be on a television project spearheaded by RJ Cutler (The War Room, American High) in which 12 diverse, ordinary Americans will wage a mock-presidential campaign on the issues, complete with stump speeches, debates, strategy sessions, and community press-the-flesh events. The idea is to both show what goes nto a political campaign and to bring new perspectives to the national debate, galvanize citizen awareness of the issues, and increase grassroots participation in this election season.
I've been given a page on the show's site to present my platform and garner support. I need to show I can attract a diverse group of supporters in order to be considered for the final 12. Right now I'm ranked 85th of 400 candidates. I'm a progressive populist with an arts-positive, civil liberties paramount, fiscal responsiblity, and eco-sustainable agenda. I believe, from perusing the other candidates' pages and message board postings, that I may be the most compelling, articulate, and passionate contender of my ilk.
Your support would help, and sharing this plea with anyone you think might be interested would be much appreciated. I'm hoping that even people who vehemently disagree with my stance on the issues choose to support my candidacy, because robust debate, citizen involvement, and passionate dissent can only strengthen the democratic experiment.
